MEDITAZIONE MINDFULNESS

Un atteggiamento consapevole e di accettazione verso l’esperienza che emerge nel momento presente può contribuire a costruire una maggiore resilienza psicologica in chi ha subìto un trauma. Rimanere nel momento presente senza reagire automaticamente, anche quando emergono le memorie intrusive, consente di ridurre il senso di colpa e la messa in atto di strategie mal-adattive (come l’evitamento, il perfezionismo o la dissociazione) in presenza dei flashback o degli stimoli target. La Mindfulness e, in particolar modo, il programma MBSR (ideato e sviluppato da Jon Kabat-Zinn) risultano particolarmente indicati per modulare i sintomi associati a un vissuto traumatico. La pratica di Mindfulness, infatti, agisce sul sistema nervoso e sulla risposta parasimpatica, riducendo l’arousal e la reattività. I pensieri intrusivi, i flashback e i ricordi che producono la sofferenza legata al trauma possono rinforzare un atteggiamento orientato al passato e la connotazione emotiva negativa dei sintomi sperimentati. Al contrario, grazie alla Mindfulness, le persone diventano più consapevoli del momento presente, interpretando in maniera accurata e non giudicante l’esperienza (compresi i sintomi) che emerge nel qui e ora e sviluppando un maggior senso di controllo di sé e dell’ambiente. L’attenzione consapevole e l’accettazione non giudicante riducono l’impatto emotivo negativo (che, per esempio, si esprime con disturbi del sonno o della sfera emotiva) dovuto all’esposizione al trauma.

La pratica Mindfulness non richiede che la persona rivisiti il trauma in maniera narrativa, bensì prevede un incontro diretto con gli effetti (sulla mente e il corpo) dell’esposizione al trauma, così come sono nel momento in cui emergono.
